Victoria Watson

Victoria Watson is a graduate of Melbourne University and VCA. She has appeared regularly as a soprano with the Victoria State Opera and has toured and served as Artistic Director of many chamber ensembles.

Victoria has performed with Sydney Symphony Orchestra and for ten years, was Artistic Director of a major opera education project with Opera Australia. Since 2015 she has moved into directing opera including Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte at the Independent theatre.

Victoria has lectured in voice at the major universities in Melbourne, and is currently a tutor at UNSW. Having taught at major Sydney secondary colleges, she now runs a busy private singing studio. She is a published author on opera, a popular freelance music and theatre lecturer and advocate for Australian artists around the world.

Wendy McLeod 

Wendy McLeod grew up in Sydney, in a home surrounded by music, with parents from Europe who were enthusiastic concert-goers and who were active in the development of Musica Viva. She spent a large part of her working life as a producer and content director at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Radio National, the start of 2 Double J, Local Radio and ABC Classic FM. 

Finding, growing and nurturing on-air talent is her special interest. Initiating new radio programs such as Life Matters and Arts coverage were central to her media career. 

Previously Orchestra Manager for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Wendy is an avid concert-goer. She enjoys singing with the Sydney Philhamonia Choirs’ Festival Chorus and loves listening to early music, especially Monteverdi, Cavalli, Vivaldi, Handel and Bach. 

Wendy also volunteers in Artist Liaison for the Australian Haydn Ensemble and relishes her time looking after musicians visiting Sydney.

Deen Hamaker 

Deen Hamaker is a passionate opera aficionado and commentator.

Introduced to theatre, opera and classical music at a very young age, he has acted in and directed theatre productions, both in Australia and overseas.

Deen’s particular passion is opera, particularly the Russian, French and Modern repertoire. Deen was a contributing author for “Great, Grand and Famous Opera Houses”, 2012.

Deen lived in Japan for several years and studied the performing arts of Asia. Fluent in Japanese, Deen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese from Griffith University.

Deen currently lives in Sydney.

Ria Andriani

Ria Andriani is a Sydney-based writer and musician. She completed her Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Arts from UNSW in 2015. A natural linguist, Ria loves playing with words and performing songs in various languages.

Ria is an active music-maker in Sydney, presenting free lunchtime recitals in collaboration with other musicians. Ria regularly sings with St James King St music ministry and Sydney Chamber Choir. She has also worked with Dame Emma Kirkby, Carollyn Sampson and Jessie Cash at Dartington International summer school in England.

Ria travels extensively in Australia and the UK, exploring nature, arts, architecture, music and history. She uses inspirations from her travels in many of her works. She also has adventures with her black Labrador Max.
